Story :
Frankenstein is a 1931 horror film loosely based on Mary Shelley’s novel of the same name. Dr. Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive), an ardent young scientist, and his assistant Fritz, a devoted hunch-back, piece together a human body, the parts of which have been secretly collected from various sources. Frankenstein’s consuming desire is to create human life through various electrical devices which he has perfected.
Their experiments are successful as the Frankenstein’s monster (played by Boris Karloff) comes to life. But, because of Fritz’s mistake, a criminal’s brain has been put inside the monster. So, he knows only murder and hate. Fritz gets murdered by the monster. Frankenstein with the help of his friend,Dr. Waldman overcomes the monster and sedates him. The monster somehow escapes and murders Dr. Waldman. Frankenstein with the help of local peasants starts searching for the monster. But, instead the monster finds him when he is alone and drags him to the top of the old mill.

This film started a string of sequels based on the same theme. During the period between 1930 to 1960, Universal Pictures created lots of horror movies based on all types of creatures like Dracula,Frankenstein’s monster,Werewolf, Mummy, etc.

Movie Gossip :
Many people mistake Frankenstein to be the name of the monster, whereas actually Frankenstein is the name of the young scientist who created the monster. Frankenstein’s monster is nameless.
