Story :

The Adventures of Robin Hood is a 1938 swashbuckler film about Robin Hood and his merry men of the Sherwood Forest starring Errol Flynn as Robin Hood. King Richard gets captured in a crusade, his evil treacherous brother, John starts oppressing the Saxon masses. He raises the taxes under the pretext of raising money for the King’s Ransom,but in reality he wants it for his own. Robi, the Earl of Locksley, openly protests against John and escapes when John’s men try to capture him.

Robin is stripped of his land and title and is declared an outlaw, “Robin Hood”. Robin Hood forms his own army from a band of outlaws in the Sherwood forest. They loot the Normans, who are carrying the taxes. But, when Robin leaves them unharmed and promises to use the money for King’s Ransom, Maid Marian has a change of heart. Rest of the movie is about Robin Hood’s adventures against John and his love story with his sweetheart Maid Marian.

Making merry : Errol Flynn shines as Robin Hood

There are many filmed versions of Robin Hood, but this is the best of all. It seems that Flynn was born just for this role. Previous to this, there was 1920 silent film, “Robin Hood” starring Douglas Fairbanks.

MRH (Masters in Robin Hood ?) : After bestriding Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood is set to sweep through university cloisters as part of a new MA course. Nottingham University will provide the first Masters programme in the world on the legend and his band of merry men.

Rabbit-Hood : In a Bugs Bunny cartoon, Rabbit-Hood, the Sheriff of Nottingham tries to arrest Bugs for eating the King’s carrots. Little John tells Bugs that Robin Hood is on his way. In the end, a short clip from “The Adventures of Robin Hood” shows Flynn as Robin Hood.
