Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid

Story :

Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid released in 1921 is a Classic Charlie Chaplin comedy drama slient movie. Chaplin plays his famous character of little tramp. Jackie Coogan played “the Kid”, who is abandoned by his single mother at birth. He is found by the tramp, who raises him as his adopted son. The duo are just made for each other as they try to scam people, by the kid purposely breaking windows and the tramp then gets “the opportunity” to sell the replacements for them. The Kid also encounters a bully, whom he tackles successfully, while Charlie has to face the bully’s muscular big brother.

Things take a bit serious turn when the Kid gets ill and the tramp has to call the doctor. The doctor comes to know that Charlie is not the Kid’s real father, so he sends for the authorities for the Kid to be taken away. Here are one of the most touching and comic scenes as the Charlie chases and fights with the authorities on roof tops and the truck. The reunion scene of Charlie and The Kid is indeed very emotional.
